Welcome to Create Journals & Planners with InDesign. This course will teach you the basics of designing with InDesign in a way that is newbie friendly, and without fluff.

As adults, we learn best when material is highly relevant and can be applied to our immediate needs. I designed this course for the person who wants to start creating journals and planners with pro software as quickly as possible. After a quick tour of the software, we will jump right into creating a journal.

In the process of creating a journal you will learn

• how to create a new document without bleed
• how to use the Pages window and Master Pages to create journals quickly
• how to place text and change fonts and sizes
• how to create lines that are evenly spaced in a few clicks
• how to create shapes and round corners
• how to align objects perfectly
• and much more

Then, we will assemble and export our book and move on to planners where we will

• reinforce concepts learned during journal design
• create a document with bleed
• place and manipulate images
• create a colored background and use an image as a background
• work with layers
• use layers to re-purpose our designs quickly and easily.

Finally, I will show you how you can layout your covers in InDesign. Yes, you can create both your interiors and covers with InDesign!

InDesign is powerful software and it can seem overwhelming at first. My goal with this course is to show you what you need to know to create journals and planners and nothing more. Create right along with me and in a little over 2 hours you can have your own journal and planner ready to publish.
